With the conference being held at the Wrest Point Convention Centre in Sandy Bay, Hobart, the venue is able to provide a very good range of accommodation options for conference participants at very affordable prices – all right on site. Costs, per room per night, start at $149.00 and range upwards to $179.00 and higher if so desired. There are also various breakfast options that can be booked at the same time, as well as more expensive rooms.
To directly book your conference accommodation package at the special conference rates at Wrest Point, go to: AATE – ALEA 2017 National Conference Wrest Point accommodation bookings.
Once you’ve selected the dates you require, click “Confirm Dates of Stay” in the bottom RH side of the screen. This will give you the room options available for the length of your stay. Before clicking the “Book” option on the photo, click “View Details” in the centre of the picture and this will then show you the room’s features, including breakfast options, which you can select at this stage.
Once you’ve done this, you can select “Book” and work through the registration and payment processes.
For more expensive Wrest Point accommodation options, please ring Reservations on 1800 030 611.
Early July is (perhaps surprisingly for mainlanders) a very busy time for Tasmania’s capital. Just finished will be the Dark Mofo, Winter Solstice festival (June 8th – 21st, 2017) and, running concurrently with our conference, is the international Festival of Voices event (30th June – 16th July 2017). This means that accommodation around Hobart will be very tight. There are other accommodation options fairly close to Wrest Point in Sandy Bay (prices varying from around $140.00 upwards) and some of these are listed below. We would recommend you getting in early with any of the following options, and even now, they may have very limited spaces available.

Additionally there are quite a few 'B and B' options and a short online search for “accommodation in Sandy Bay Tasmania” will show these.
There are many fine hotels and accommodation options in the Hobart city area, but registrants will need to note that these are some distance from the venue, requiring public transport (this is reliable and takes you right to the venue), taxi or private transport arrangements. Please note that Uber does not operate in Hobart – at least not yet.
A Google search will reveal a range of options at a very broad range of prices.
Please contact the Local Conference Organiser, Phil Page, Mobile 0409 438 625 or email: email@example.com for further information.
Many interstate and international visitors often like to take the opportunity to spend some more time in Tasmania, travelling around the state and enjoying this magical place.
Many accommodation providers will do special rates at this time and it is well worth close investigation if you intend to spend some extra time here. For example, The Mantra Group is offering a 15% discount if you use the promotional code AATE17 for pre and post conference visits. Click on the image to view hotel information.
