Terms and Conditions of your registration

Conference fees and payments

All prices are stated in Australian Dollars [$AUD] and are inclusive of GST. Payment will only be accepted in Australian Dollars.

GST Tax Invoices will be issued via email once registration is complete. The Tax Invoice will be issued by the Australian Association for the Teaching of English/Australian Literacy Educators’ Association AATE/ALEA Conference ABN 27 465 052 461

Conference registrations must be paid in full prior to the conference. If an invoice has been generated for your conference registration this means that your registration is confirmed and payment will be required whether or not you attend.

Registration categories

'Members' are current financial members of ALEA or a state or territory English Teachers Association (ETA) affiliated with AATE.

Members of the International Literacy Association (ILA), the New Zealand Literacy Association (NZLA), the New Zealand Association for the Teaching of English (NZATE) and associations affiliated with the International Federation for the Teaching of English (IFTE) and the ILA may register at the AATE/ALEA Member Rate.

'Student' means full-time under-graduate or post-graduate student of a higher education institution [in Australia or Overseas]. Proof of Full time enrolment must be faxed to +61 8 8333 0394 or emailed to Student members of ALEA or the state/territory ETAs may register at the Student rate.

Cancellations and withdrawals

Cancellations must be submitted in writing to prior to 30 April in the year the conference is held and will incur an administrative fee of $100. No refunds will be accepted after that date but substitute delegates are welcome. No refunds will be given for non-attendance but substitute delegates are welcome.

Agreement to pay in full

By submitting a registration either online, by telephone or by other means, you agree to pay for the conference in full whether or not you attend any or all of the event(s), unless negotiated otherwise with the management of the AATE/ALEA national office. If your personal circumstances change, or health or family issues arise please contact us immediately to discuss.

Disclaimer of liability

AATE and ALEA reserve the right to amend any part of the conference program or event should it be necessary. AATE and ALEA will not accept any liability for damages of any nature sustained by participants for loss or damage to their personal property as a result of the Conference or related event. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, AATE and ALEA will not accept responsibility for loss of monies incurred by delegates.


AATE and ALEA are committed to protecting your personal information and will not share any of your information with a third party. Communication will be restricted to information specifically related to your attendance at the Conference and in informing you of future conferences. In registering for the conference you accept that relevant details may be forwarded to the organising committee and others involved in the organisation of the event.

During the conference and its associated events photos and video footage will be taken. Unless you advise us otherwise, your registration for the conference implies permission for us to use the photos and video for publicity, promotional or instructional purposes, including uploading to the internet.


No tickets will be issued, however on payment you will receive by email detailed confirmation of your conference registration.
